Through a post, Microsoft announced the purchase of PhoneFactor, with service that promises to take your multi-factor authentication (MFA) to its development partners and customers in the future.

As you know, it is common that the services that require authentication, using only a user name and password respectively. However, PhoneFactor add to that the possibility of entering an account by sending an SMS, making a call or by a specific application.

And while this process may be unattractive to some users, the fact is that in the corporate world would be very welcome, as it is in this sector that impersonation would have serious consequences, so more security tools exist better. Even when you lose a few seconds more, than required in a traditional system.

So far, there is nothing clear about what Microsoft could do with your new purchase. However, it is likely that service that integrates with Active Directory, Active Directory Windows Azure and Office 365.
